Make My Cake

For us, it's hard to walk into a bakery and not think of Wayne Thiebaud --- or how many slices we can eat before being called "piggish."

We restrained ourselves during a recent visit to Make My Cake in Harlem to just two: the famed red velvet and German chocolate.

The red velvet could have used a lot more buttercream frosting, but --- let's be honest --- we could have eaten another three slabs. At least. The four-dollar slice was worth every calorie. The German chocolate was deliciously dark, topped with two types of frosting: coconut caramel and chocolate. Next time we're going to try the coconut cake, carrot cake, and, if no one's looking, a couple of cupcakes too.

That looks WAY better than Billy's -- I'm afraid it's gone downhill. Did you happen to see if they had any banana cake?

Hey there, Mama! We're thinking of you and AS and baby TBD nonstop.

Yes, they have banana cake (with white chocolate frosting), so let's make a plan to get up there when you (all) can.

Hope you're doing OK!
