Madangsui

Fresh off the plane, we decided to ease the transition back into our regular life by eating crispy rice and meat. Same concept as Spain, but with vastly different flavors and effect.

Madangsui specializes in Korean BBQ, but we were there for the bimibobs, rice-based dishes cooked in stone hot pots. We began with the kimchi pancake, more kimchi than pancake, and tried the various pickled sides. The hae-mool dol-sot bimimbob had chunks of mussel, shrimp, and peppers, while the plain bimimbob had tomatoes and beef. The rice in both had been charred on the bottom, and the whole dish kept cooking, even as we shoveled it in.
