Yoko Ono's Wish Tree
To celebrate her 92nd birthday, Yoko Ono brought her ongoing art installation, Wish Tree, to the Park Avenue Armory for three days in mid-February. Attendees were invited to write a wish on an index card, then hang it on one of the 92 trees adorning the space. Wishes ranged from universal (world peace) to oddly specific (wanting to be a famous drummer, for example, or for viewers to appreciate the writer's marketing efforts for a local hotel) to very kind ("I wish for all these wishes to come true"). One wisher asked for more dancing and more farting, while another requested that we all "get a grip."
