El Ay Si

Long Island City's El Ay Si (get it?) specializes in comfort food. We found our Red Eye (layers of bacon, peanut butter, banana, and French toast) and X Sandwich (an English muffin stuffed with scrambled eggs and cheese) with a side of tater tots succoring and satisfying. Both dishes intentionally hark back to the goopy sandwiches and Egg McMuffins of childhood, when calories didn't count and weekends stretched out endlessly.
