Earth Made of Glass at the Tribeca Film Festival

Earth Made of Glass, a documentary about post-genocidal Rwanda, begins with a quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson: "commit a crime and the earth is made of glass." It goes on to follow Jean-Pierre Sagahutu as he struggles to discover what happened to his father 15 years before, during the 1994 genocide. Filmmaker Deborah Scranton adds to Sagahutu's story through interviews with Paul Kagame, the complicated leader largely responsible for the country's recovery. The movie attempts to embody a model for conflict resolution and life after war: one that preaches neither justice nor vengeance, but instead extols the virtues of simply moving on.
