Bored to Death
Eyes bleary from many hours on planes, we barely glanced at the disk as we tore open the red envelope, grabbed a blanket and the cat, and settled in for some post-vacation recovery. Four or so hours later, we emerged even happier to be home. Thank you, HBO.
Bored to Death features Jason Schwartzman as Jonathan Ames, a writer-turned-unlicensed private detective. Joining him on his adventures are a trusty one hitter, Zach Galifianakis as sad, moral Ray, and Ted Danson as enthusiastic, deluded George. But the star of the show, by far, is New York City --- its streets, its parks, its coffee shops and restaurant openings and general contemporaneous ridiculousness, its capacity for accepting every single idiosyncrasy of every single resident.
