Tibetan Mobile / Lhasa Fast Food

Beef momos and vegetable moms, Tibetan Mobile / Lhasa Fast Food

To get to Lhasa Fast Food, you have to walk through rack after rack of smart phones and accessories, Tibetan Mobile's primary inventory, then slip through row after row of DVDs in Hindi and Nepali, beneath Tibetan prayer flags and portraits of the current Dalai Lama. When you can't go any further, you're there --- at a small counter that cooks made-to-order momos, among other Himalayan specialties scrawled on a handwritten menu. We got beef (left) and vegetable (right) dumplings, each the size of a fat coin purse and crimped on top, all the more delicious for the fact that we were dousing them in hot sauce and eating them in the very back of a cell phone store in the middle of Jackson Heights.
