Bill Cunningham New York at Film Forum

Last night we were finally able to get tickets to the most popular movie in New York, and now we have a new favorite New Yorker. The ungrammatically titled Bill Cunningham New York, selling out every showing at Film Forum in the West Village, showcases the extraordinarily lovable octogenarian photographer of street fashion and high society. A modern ascetic, Cunningham eschews any of the comforts of the people he photographs, pedaling his bike all over town in his taped-together poncho and cheap blue smock (the same worn by sanitation workers in Paris). An uncompromising commitment to his work mingles with wide-eyed enthusiasm about the perpetual show that New York's streets put on.

Dude, we were there last night too! The 5:40 show, because we fade fast on Fridays. Wasn't it amazing? I don't think there could be a more talented or endearing subject than Bill Cunningham.

Loved, loved that movie! Like Kate said we were there too last night. He was such a lovable old guy and I was so blown away by his work ethic. When someone mentioned how she would be talking to him and he would just take off running to get some shot, I couldn't stop chuckling.
I am really getting sad I am not going to get to see this movie...hopefully Netflix will get it in their library. Sounds wonderful !!
@ Kate and Shawn: Great minds think alike. We were at the 6:20, so just missed you!

@Rosemary: You'd really like it -- definitely put it in your queue.

Any chance that the movie will play on other screens as well ? I am sure it will pack a few houses. I am sorry I missed it ... by the time we are back in New Jersey, we start to forget things.

keep us informed, sometimes we make it in time.
