Vishnu at the Brooklyn Museum
It's a good time to be (or to be into) Indian art right now. In addition to Mother India at the Met, the Brooklyn Museum has a huge show about Vishnu and his many avatars (also known as "attributes"). Vishnu: Hinduism’s Blue-Skinned Savior includes work both new and old, from paintings to sculpture to ritual objects, depicting the god in all his glory, as well as his anger, fierceness, peacefulness, happiness, love of milk-ness, powerfulness, manifoldness, elegance, creativity, passion, wisdom, and colorful majesty.
