Dickson's

Dickson's, the butcher shop that arranged our tour of Madani Halal a couple of years ago, sells much more than glorious hunks of raw meat. We love their jerky and "slim Jakes," but our favorite thing in the shop is surely their pastrami sandwich. Smaller than those found at the celebrated Jewish delis (and served with mayo), it's actually more traditional, approximating the rolled beef that has long since disappeared from many of those same delis. Served with sauerkraut and brown mustard, it's a delicious mess that tempts us every time we're inside. Or within about 20 blocks.
