BLOOMTANICA

 

What was most curious to us as we walked through BLOOMTANICA, a free, immersive art installation on view at Genesis House by floral artist Jeff Leatham, was the smell. Borrowing its imagery from traditional Korean gardens, the installation includes standalone sculptures of dehydrated flowers, mirrors, artful lighting, a striking digital experience in which flowers carom around the floor, ceiling, and walls --- and a delicious, luscious piped-in floral smell. In many ways, the smell served to heighten the artifice of the entire enterprise.
