Baked

Who could pass up a sign like this? Not us, certainly, as we left Anselmo's and headed toward the water taxi. We were rewarded with a dainty little thing, topped with airy chocolate frosting, a distinct --- and delightful --- contrast to the dense, softball-sized desserts smeared thickly with buttercream so often found in Manhattan (don't get us wrong: we willingly scarf those up too).

We had to increase our sample size in the name of research. So to make sure this bakery was really, truly worth crossing the river, we also tried a monster cookie, a sweet puck of oatmeal, M&Ms, and peanut butter.

"Yeth, yeth," we said to each other, in between chunky mouthfuls.

Yeah, Red Hook is great. Baked goods, coal oven pizza, and a gigantic, free neighborhood pool!
