The Loading Dock

The density of New York and the high price of its real estate mean that budding restauranteurs exercise great ingenuity in cramming their dreams into any nook or cranny they can find. Take the Loading Dock, located in, well, a loading dock perched on the entrance ramp to the BQE in downtown Brooklyn. Where once trucks on- and offloaded are now communal tables, wooden chairs, and a one-person kitchen, which hangs almost in midair, looking as if a strong someone lifted up and suspended a shiny metal street cart. Out of this marvel of engineering come satisfying tacos and carnitas and tamales. Potted flowers brighten the space. Alongside the restaurant is an art gallery, showing decidedly modern media.
