Malu

 
What impressed us most about Malu, an ice cream shop and cookie decorating facility just off Pulaski Bridge in Hunts Point, Queens, wasn't the ice cream. Sure, our rocket fuel and mint chip were caffeinated and minty, respectively, and quite refreshing after a slog from Greenpoint to Long Island City on a hot day. Nor was it the name, which we originally took to be Maru, in tribute to the internet's most famous cat. 
 
No, what stands out about Malu was the service. We're pretty sure we met the nicest guy in New York on Sunday. His warmth and positive attitude made our day and, though it's still Tuesday, maybe even our week. Sir, if you're reading this, thank you. We'll see you soon for calories and more kind words.
