Vertigo at Film Forum

Showing through Tuesday at Film Forum is Vertigo, the movie Sight & Sound just named the best film of all time, beating out such contenders as Citizen Kane, 2001, and 8 1/2. Thanks to an extraordinary DCP restoration, the 1958 tale of sexual obsession, grief, and, of course, phobias looks as fresh as it did when it opened, perhaps even fresher. You could go for a swim in Jimmy Stewart's eyes, or get a tan from the rays emanating out from Kim Novak's hair --- the colors are that intense, and San Francisco has never looked more lovely.
