Ninotchka at Film Forum

Famously marketed as the film in which Greta Garbo finally laughs, Ninotchka has lost none of its comedic power in the seven decades since it was released. Last night's sold-out screening at Film Forum, complete with free bubbly for New Year's Eve, tickled the audience with such great lines as "I should hate to see our country endangered by my underwear" and "The last mass trials were a great success --- there are going to be fewer but better Russians."
